On one of the email correspondences, a friend made this comment, “Everyone in the world is for sale. It only depends on the figures and ownership”.
I was thinking to write something back to express my views, but choose not to do so as everyone has their own values and hardly can we change (and we have no right to change). Values, like believes, are established though one’s unique life experience, and are deeply rooted unless some dramatic accidents happened to change one’s life. That’s what sets us different, as well as appeals to others whom share the same values/believes with us.
Knowing this friend for very long time, I can understand where this friend comes from to make this comment, but I am struggling, is it right? If so, how much we are going to price ourselves? To whom we will be owned by? And what will be the differences between human beings and other priced products/services we used to take for granted that they are offered for sales?
Can money really buy everything and give us the right to manipulate other people who have the price for sale? If you ask me, my answer is No. Instead, we should feel lucky and appreciate that we might be able to sold at a higher price at the moment (if accordingly to the theory and the fair value is calculated by the functionality we can perform, the look we have, the residual value we have after depreciation etc) compared to others; however, there will always be some other people who are more expensive than us and can afford to buy us, what feeling we will have when we are treated in this way?
Maybe I never experience any poverty to understand the pain of having no money at all or to circumstances that I need to trade off my dignity, so that I can still remain positive, or somewhat naïve attitude when being in the very realistic world. However, I wish that I could always stay in this way, regardless how other factors turn out, to have the hope in people and life.
